Review

Just returned from 4 days at Le Meridien Phuket, having been there before in Feb 2006. On the whole, a good hotel but it depends what you're looking for. First the good points:

Setting - private beach, large hotel, landscaped grounds, huge pools. Away from the hustle of Patong.
Service - attentive, pleasant, not intrusive but also not proactive.
Facilities - can't fault anything - all kinds of sports : archery, basketball, mini golf, tennis, squash, fitness center, all in good condition, staff supervision for children etc

Downside
Restaurants - some might find the food good if you have little exposure to Asian cuisine. We've travelled extensively in Asia and my honest assessment would be : Singapore prices but lower quality. This was our biggest disappointment.

Overall, you can't go far wrong with this hotel. The private beach is lovely and the hotel is solidly competent. But it is not really value for the money you pay particularly for food and it somehow lacks a personal touch & feel from the staff, which you can get in other big hotels in Asia. The overall impression is positive but somehow formulaic.
